Class pictures

There's nothing like the satisfaction of finishing your first woodworking project. In the case of this current class that meets on Saturday mornings, the project is a cutting board.

Even though it looks like a pretty simple thing to build, there is a lot going on, and they're learning skills that they probably don't even realize they're learning, like how to square up a board, or how to properly glue things together.

Is it goofy to comment about how proud they look? I think they all did a great job.

Unlike this recent story of gluing things together, this class did a superb job of not only choosing their material, but finishing their boards, too.

The maker of this board put a juice groove around the perimeter. Even though it looks very simple, it took him an extra couple of hours to machine this, using a router with an edge guide.

When the boards are close to being finished, there's an intensity in the air.

Since I'm not much of a morning person, I wondered what it would be like to teach Saturday morning class.

Honestly, these students are so laid back, it's a joy to meet and work with them.

  1. Hiya Jamie, as I'm recovering from the anethsia (sp) after my "procedure" I was looking through your blog -- very nice work your class did on the cutting boards. I'm sure you're feeling pleased and satisfied. See you at the next meet-up -- John
